There are numerous ways to receive recognition at the Market Animal Show. This brief overview of awards will give each exhibitor a better understanding of the awards they are eligible to receive.
***Record books must be complete and turned in on time to be eligible or any award.
Class Awards
For all classes of lambs, hogs, and steers, each exhibitor will receive a premium for their placing in the class.
Record Book Awards
Record book award participants are divided into the following three classes.
- Junior Class: 9-13 years of age prior to September 30, 2011
- Senior Class: 14-19 years of age prior to September 30, 2011

George A. Beam Memorial Award
Recipients of this award will be based on the total amount of points earned, based on the following:
| 5 points per single lamb entry | 7 points per Section Champion |
5.4.3.2.1 points per class placing | 6 points per Section Reserve Champion |
10 points Grand Champion | 5.4.3 points for Showmanship Placing |
9 points Reserve Grand Champion | 4 points for Showmanship call back |
Hog Awards

Character Counts Awards
Trustworthiness - Being honest and loyal, keeping promises.
Respect - Showing others that they are valued for who they are, for their character.
Responsibility - Doing what you are supposed to do, fulfilling obligations, following through.
Fairness - Playing by the rules, taking turns, sharing, listening to what others say.
Caring - Being kind, helpful, and generous to everyone.
Citizenship - Doing your share to make your community a better place for everyone.
Showmanship Awards
Showmanship awards are awarded to exhibitors in the following classes for each species.
Junior Class: 9-13 years of age prior to September 30, 2011
Senior Class: 14-19 years of age prior to September 30, 2011
Novice: Classification applies to first year exhibitors, per species.

Presented by Woodrow Wilson District Ruritans. Recipient selection based on point totals earned as follows:

Alton Lewis Award (for first year exhibitors)
Presented by Sherando-Lyndhurst Ruritan Club and is based on the same point system as the R.L. Coffey Award.
